According to the release, as crews attacked the fire upon arrival, they limited the fire to the roof and prevented the fire from spreading throughout the barn. Smoke and flames had been visible from the roof of a non-operational barn when crews arrived.

“The fire was brought under control without incident,” the release states.

An ember from an adjacent burn pile ignited the fire, according to the release. The cause of the fire is “not considered suspicious,” according to the release. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters reporters.

Whitewater Fire/EMS was assisted on scene by the Lauderdale-LaGrange engine companies, Jefferson Truck company; Delavan, Elkhorn and Lakeside squad companies, Janesville and Lake Geneva ambulances; chiefs from LaGrange, Jefferson and Fort Atkinson; Rome and Sullivan Tender companies and the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
