JANESVILLE — The city of Janesville will host a public meeting Tuesday, Nov. 4, on the redevelopment of the former General Motors/JATCO property, including interest from data center developers.
The event is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Woodman’s Sports and Convention Center, 2510 Milton Ave., Janesville. WCLO Radio’s Tim Bremel will moderate the discussion, with City Manager Kevin Lahner leading the presentation and conversation afterward.
City officials said the goal of the meeting is to provide residents with information, answer questions, and encourage constructive dialogue about what a potential data center project could mean for the community.
Following the city’s acquisition of the GM/JATCO site, two developers have expressed interest in putting a data center there, city officials have said.
In response, the city undertook a fact-finding process to better understand the feasibility and potential impact on Janesville, especially the southside where the former GM plant is located. Lahner is expected to share findings from that process on Tuesday.
For those unable to attend in person, the conversation will be livestreamed by JATV Media Services on its YouTube channel and on Channel 994.
