JANESVILLE — Rock County Supervisor Dave Homan won’t run for reelection in April.

Homan is the incumbent for District 8, which includes the town of Janesville wards 1-3, 9 and 10, town of Rock wards 1-5 and 7; town of Beloit wards 1 and 13 and city of Janesville Ward 13.
Homan was first elected to a two-year term in 2016. He was elected again in 2020 and 2024. He wasn’t on the ballot in 2018. Homan lost to Rick Richard 52% to 48% in the 2022 election. He was appointed to fill vacancies on the board in May 2019 and September 2023.
Candidates interested in running for a county board seat have until Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 5 p.m. to submit paperwork and the needed signatures to be on the ballot. Candidates must submit at least 50 signatures and a maximum of 100 signatures.
All 29 county board seats are up for election on April 7. If a primary is needed, it will be on Feb. 17.
Current board members Mary Mawhinney, Yuri Rashkin and Bill Wilson have filed noncandidacy paperwork for the spring election.
Incumbent Kathy Schulz, meanwhile, has announced her intention to run again.
Milton Alderperson Ken Smith has also announced his intention to run, as have Beloit area residents Brandon Buchanan, Rodolfo Abarca and Willow Wallis.
The deadline for incumbents to file a noncandidacy notice is Friday, Dec. 26 at 5 p.m. For more information about running for a county board seat, contact County Clerk Lisa Tollefson at 608-757-5660.
