MILTON — Ethan Hall’s 2-goal evening powered Milton to a 3-1 non-conference boys’ soccer win over Janesville Parker Monday night at Jerry Schliem stadium.
The Red Hawks recorded 10 shots on goal, and if it wasn’t for Parker goalie Nestor Carrillo’s Reyes heroic night they would have had more. Carrillo’s Reyes secured seven saves, two of which required the senior to dive.
“The good thing about him is he’s what we haven’t had at Parker,” Vikings coach Jason Bier said. “He’s a keeper that can not only play in goal but also come out and play with his feet.”
Hall scored his first goal of the night in the 46th minute following a penalty kick that Aiden Reichelt headed towards him. Milton’s Mason Cresswell scored in the 74th minute and Hall again scored in the 78th.
“I just think we should have scored more goals,” Hall said.
With the win, Milton moves to 7-6-2 and is still 1-4-2 in the Badger Large Conference. The loss drops the Vikings to 2-15 overall and their 0-9 Big Eight Conference remains the same.
The Red Hawks used this game to get junior varsity players more time.
“We did what we were hoping to do and that was get some minutes to a number of guys across the team,” Milton head coach Tim Hall said. “We’ve had a bunch of bubble players that have been faithfully sitting the bench most of the season.”
Coach Hall mentioned Brekon Barra and Jacob Kim as two of the junior varsity players that stood out.
“They did a great job controlling the field and being more composed. They’re probably the biggest leaders on the JV squad and they walked right into a game and were pretty comfortable,” coach Hall said.
Jarren Richmond scored Parker’s lone goal of the night when the Vikings trailed 1-0. Richmond capitalized off a rebound to give his team a chance. The goal was scored in the 53rd minute, and the contest remained tied for the next 21 minutes.
“We got down 1-0 and what tends to happen throughout the season is we put our heads down for a little bit and let up,” Bier said. “It was good to see the kids fight hard.”
Parker takes on Whitewater on Tuesday for a home game at 6:30 p.m. Milton will travel on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. Badger Large conference game against Oregon.
