JANESVILLE — With the winter storm bearing down on Janesville and beyond, city and county officials decided to close their offices early Friday.
In a statement, Rock County announced it is closing all offices at noon Friday and will reopen them Tuesday, Jan. 16. County offices are closed Monday for observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Most city of Janesville facilities announced they will be closing at noon Friday, as well.
These closures include City Hall, police administrative offices, fire administrative offices, Janesville Transit System administrative offices, public works administrative offices, the Janesville Ice Arena and the Janesville Senior Center.
Public safety, snow and ice control, and other essential city services will continue.
Hedberg Public Library will close to patrons at 12:30 p.m., though the coffee shop on the library's ground floor will remain open until 5 p.m. to serve as a warming shelter.
Janesville's bus service is suspending service at 3:15 p.m. It is expected to resume at 8:45 a.m. Jan. 13.

Facilities will reopen Monday, Jan. 15, during regular business hours. In the event of an emergency, dial 911.
