BEAVER DAM -- Going into the Badger Conference meet, the Milton cross-country teams goal was to see improvement across the board in their times.

On Saturday, that's exactly what happened as multiple Red Hawks runners set personal best when they competed at Beaver Dam High School.

鈥淥verall I think they did really well,鈥 said Red Hawks coach Kacie Dye.

The Janesville Craig High School football team will be out to snap a 10-game WIAA Division 1 playoff losing streak at Mukwonago High School on Friday night.

That is one of the 112 first-round matchups in the seven-division playoffs that the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association announced Saturday morning.

Milton High will open the Division 2 playoffs at home against Westosha Central High.

In Division 4, a pair of long-time rivals and Rock Valley Conference foes will play at Edgerton with the Crimson Tide hosting Evansville High.

JANESVILLE -- Devon Connors-Shaw stood head and shoulders above the numerous well-wishers that gathered around him and the other Janesville Parker High football players after the Vikings鈥 54-6 homecoming victory over visiting Madison East at Monterey Stadium.

While there were many well-deserved yelps and pats on the back from fans and teammates, tears welled in the eyes that were underlined by eye black of the 6-foot-4, 240-pound offensive and defensive lineman.

鈥淚t was a fun game,鈥 Connors-Shaw said with a wavering voice.

University of Tennessee commit Tre Poteat showed exactly why the Volunteers recruited him on Friday night against the Cougars.

The Verona Area Wildcats wide receiver and defensive back scored three touchdowns in three different ways as Verona (9-0 overall,7-0 conference) cruised to a 49-7 win over Janesville Craig (5-4 overall, 4-3 conference) to remain unbeaten.

Poteat started off his excellent performance taking a slant route for 56-yards and the game's opening touchdown in the first quarter.
