JANESVILLE — Right at Home, a national in-home care franchise for seniors and adults with disabilities, is looking to expand into Janesville and is seeking a local owner to take on the territory.

The company, based in Omaha, Neb., operates more than 500 locations worldwide, including 11 territories already sold in Wisconsin, said Jen Chaney, Right at Home’s vice president of franchise development.
The nearest territory to Janesville is Waunakee, Chaney said. Seven territories in the state remain open, with Janesville identified by Right at Home as a priority market due to its growing senior population.
“There are nearly 30,000 seniors in this territory who could benefit from our services,” Chaney said. “This community has a significant need, and we’re actively looking for the right owner to step in.”
Chaney said Right at Home franchise owners employ caregivers who provide in-home support ranging from companion services and personal care to light housekeeping, meal preparation and assistance with daily activities such as bathing and transportation. Some locations also offer limited skilled nursing services.
Franchisees operate an office in their territory for hiring, training and staff meetings, but the bulk of the work takes place in clients’ homes. Owners are also expected to build relationships with hospitals, senior centers and other referral sources in their communities.
Chaney said franchise ownership might appeal to people looking to transition from traditional jobs into business ownership while making a difference.
“Sometimes people are nervous about taking the leap into business ownership,” she said. “But so many of our franchisees tell us they wish they had done it sooner.”
“This is a very people-centered business,” she added. “You’re not only improving the quality of life for the seniors we serve, but also for the caregivers you employ, and the families connected to them.”
The company has been in operation for 30 years and franchising for 25, offering new owners its systems, training and ongoing support. Prospective franchisees go through an application and discovery process that includes connecting with current owners before final approval.
