Wood, from Rockton, Illinois, graduated from Hononegah Community High School. He holds an associate degree from Rock Valley College and a bachelor of science in psychology and philosophy from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Both officers will attend the Blackhawk Technical College Law Enforcement Academy in Janesville starting this month. The academy, which provides a total of 720 instructional hours, prepares recruits for certification as law enforcement officers in Wisconsin through a curriculum that includes classroom instruction and hands-on practical exercises. Upon completion, recruits are eligible for certification with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
