ELKHORN — The Elkhorn police and fire departments recovered a body on Thursday believed to be that of the missing 27-year-old man.
The body was recovered from a retention pond Thursday morning near the 200 block of West O’Connor Drive in Elkhorn.
Dexter Johnson, of Elkhorn went missing on May 21 and was last seen on camera at 9 p.m. at Casey’s Gas Station on West Market Street. He walked away from his home, according to the release.
The release said that he is normally gone for only 2 hours and takes medication for seizures and it was unknown if he had his medication with him.
The release said that Johnson was also having delusions of being watched by people in his ceiling, His cellphone was not working and officers were not able to ping his phones to find his location.
Johnson was last seen wearing a black cowboy hat, black shorts, tank top, glasses and a backpack.
Elkhorn police said in the press release that at this time they are not suspecting foul play.
The Walworth County medical examiner will conduct an investigation to make an official identification and rule on manner and cause of death. The release did not give a timeframe on when this would occur.
Along with Elkhorn Fire and Police there were multiple agencies who assisted in the recovery.
