MILTON – As the city of Milton considers opening its streets to ATVs and UTVs, a bipartisan bill introduced this week in a state Senate committee that would ban open alcohol containers on those types of vehicles, is coloring its debate.

Hy-Vee already is humming along on a demolition-to-rehab of the former Shopko on Humes Road in Janesville, but one part of the plan—an outdoor patio to pair with a bar and grill Hy-Vee plans inside its future grocery store—is being put on hold for a few weeks.

When the ink dries on a change that most of the Janesville city council agreed to Monday, a local gas station will be allowed to sell beer and liquor by-the-can—just like the 27 other liquor stores in Janesville that are allowed to do the same.
