Anne Wojcicki's nonprofit, TTAM Research Institute, has received court approval to buy 23andMe the genetic testing company she cofounded. The $305 million deal, which was approved on Friday, includes most of 23andMe's assets, such as its DNA testing kits and telehealth services. This comes after 23andMe filed for bankruptcy in March, following financial struggles and leadership disputes. Privacy concerns over genetic data have also been raised, with dozens of states filing a lawsuit in June to oppose the sale. TTAM has pledged to honor existing privacy policies, allowing users to delete data or opt out of research. The acquisition is expected to close in the coming weeks.
