For visitors looking to stay in downtown Janesville, lodging options are limited to one hotel. But there is an emerging second option: A handful of short-term rentals tied to downtown storefronts for visitors who want to stay within walking distance of downtown businesses, restaurants and attractions.

In a new effort by downtown Janesville's Business Improvement District, artists are helping Downtown Janesville storefronts that are vacant or underused. It's called "Windows of Possibility," an initiative that puts artwork created by local artists in vacant or underused storefronts.

Raven's Wish has not set a formal date, but the gallery and art maker space says it plans to reopen later this summer at 121 W. Milwaukee St. — a storefront space that's at the west end of the same block where the gallery operates now.

Sunny + Olive, a consignment clothing shop in Milton, is preparing to open a second location in downtown Janesville, in the space currently leased by art studio Raven’s Wish.
