The Broadway musical Hamilton and the historian whose book inspired it are getting the National Constitution Centers Liberty Medal this fall. The award is bestowed for efforts to spread liberty around the world. Award organizers announced Monday that Ron Chernow and Hamilton will collect the medal and its $100,000 cash prize at an October event on Philadelphias Independence Mall. Hamilton is credited for bringing to life and spreading the story of the U.S. Constitution and Alexander Hamilton. He was a pivotal figure in drafting and promoting the governing document. Hamilton was also the first U.S. treasury secretary.
