HARTLAND — Janesville Craig and Janesville Parker, along with Milton each had participants in the Myrhum Invitational at Taraska Stadium on Saturday.
Craig’s Abi Anderson was the lone Cougar to compete. She ran the 3200-meter race and finished fourth with a time of 11 minutes and 11.67 seconds.
“It’s an invite only meet and we just felt like she needed to race against some high level competition,” said Craig coach Brandon Miles.
Miles said it was one of the fastest times a Cougar girl has run the 3200-meter race.
“That was pretty exciting, she raced really well,” Miles said.
For Janesville Parker, Harper Brandenburg took fourth in the 400-meter dash in 58.21 seconds, which is a new personal record.
Brandenburg, along with Shaylyn Schuh, Mia Riley and Violet McCue took sixth in the 800-meter relay race with a time of 1:45.46.
Parker’s Landen Wright threw a mark 152 feet, four inches in the boys discus throw to finish ninth. Teammate Alexander Vallee took ninth in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.53.
For Milton, AJ Markham finished fifth in the discus throw with a mark of 159-5. In the 400-meter relay the Red Hawks (Mason Sorge, Maddie Corder, Brayden Hakes, Angelina Preuss) finished ninth with a time of 3:59.93.
Friday: Stoughton Invitational — Before Saturday’s Myrhum Invitational, Craig, Parker and Milton each competed at Stoughton High School.
In total, 14 schools competed. DeForest’s score of 44 allowed the Norsky boys to take first place and Sun Prairie East’s girls scored 50 to take first place.
The Craig boys took fifth with a score of 20.
Cougars long jumper Jack Dostal took first, clearing 21 feet. The Cougars’ boys team of Sam Piper, Dostal, Alex Lawton, and Freddy Odom also took second in the 800-meter relay race with a time of 1:30.87.
The Craig girls also took fifth as a team with 22 points. Two Cougars set new personal bests: Anderson in the 1600-meter race (5:16.85) and Olivia Schober in the 400-meter dash (1:01.62). Both Anderson and Schober took first in those events.
The Vikings’ girls performance was highlighted by their 800-meter relay performance. Riley, Schuh, Makiya Smith and McCue grabbed first with a time of 1:47.15.
That same group but with Brandenburg swapped for McCue took second in the 4x100 meter-relay with a time of 50.69 seconds.
Wright also took second in the boys’ discus throw with a mark of 154-8.
“Landen Wright was the person that stood out,” Viking coach Richard Schuh said.
Wright’s score was also a personal best.
“This last Friday was the most competitive that we’ve seen,” said Viking coach Kat Reilly. “It kind of gave our kids a run for their money and allowed them to see where they’re at.”
Reilly also said the meet was a good representation of what a state meet is set up like.
Milton’s day was highlighted by Markham taking first in the boys discus throw (158-6) and Olivia Reichelt took fourth in the girls 100-meter dash (13.03).
