JANESVILLE — An upcoming evening benefit event will help support victims of human trafficking in the Rock County area.
‘Break the Silence: An Event to Support Local Victim-Survivors of Human Trafficking,’ is Saturday, July 12, from 6-10 p.m., at The Loft at Wayward Winds, 4109 W. County Road A, Janesville.
Set outdoors, the event will include live music by Bailee Combs and Lady and the Tramp, charcuterie and dessert tables, a cash bar, and auction and raffle items. A brief program is planned at 7 p.m.
‘Break the Silence’ is hosted by the Beacon of Light Team with primary sponsorship support from IBEW Local 890, Blackhawk Community Credit Union, Combs & Associates, Haye Dental Group, and John and Jann Roethe. Additional support is provided by Fairbanks Morse Defense, MacFarlane Pheasants, and Nowlan Personal Injury Law Team.
Proceeds will be donated to two local nonprofit organizations, Family Services of Southern Wisconsin and Project 16:49, to help provide safety and support for victim-survivors of trafficking in the Rock County community.
Both organizations are members of the Rock County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, whose mission is to develop and maintain a community network that serves to educate, prevent, and respond to youth who have been or are at risk of being trafficked.
