WHITEWATER — The Greater Whitewater Committee will host a public event in February at which community members can meet local candidates who are running for office in April.
The event will be formatted as a speed network rotation where the candidate will have the opportunity to meet with new people every five to seven minutes.
“The committee encourages community members to partake in this event to help them better understand the faces behind the April ballot,” a release said.
The event is Thursday, Feb. 12, at 5 p.m. at 841 Brewhouse, 841 E Milwaukee St., Whitewater. The speed networking will begin at 5:30 p.m. immediately following the social gathering.
“The Greater Whitewater Committee recognizes the incredible forums taking place within the community that help the public better know their representatives. This event is not attempting to compete with those forums but is instead designed to connect citizens with their representative candidates,” the release said.
“The plan is to invite all 10 potential candidates running for city council or school board. These ten candidates will each have their own table and every five-seven minutes, community members will rotate, in no specific order, their conversations with these candidates. The GWC hopes that this event will help the community members engage and build relationships in a comfortable setting.”
“We are very excited to host this event. This is meant to be a unique opportunity for citizens to talk one on one with each candidate. We are excited to see people being passionate about local elections, both common council and school board representatives,” GWC President Jeffery Knight said in a release.
