MILTON The Milton Police Department will apply a $500 grant from Alliant Energy to upgrade crossing guard equipment, including for lighted stop signs to increase visibility and pedestrian safety.
Our crossing guards have a large responsibility in ensuring the safety of the school children to and from school, in blue sky weather, in heavy rains, and in cold and snowy weather, Police Chief Brandon Sachse said in a release.
Its imperative that we provide them with the equipment to help them maintain not only their safety and protection from traffic, but also for the pedestrians they assist, Sachse said.
