JANESVILLE -- A 26-year-old Janesville man who allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a knife during an argument is facing a series of domestic abused-related charges.

Keon Lawson was charged on Jan. 28 in Rock County Circuit Court with felony charges that include one count of recklessly endangering safety as domestic abuse with a dangerous weapon; false imprisonment as domestic abuse and with a dangerous weapon; and intimidation of a witness as domestic abuse and with a dangerous weapon. Lawson was also charged with one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct as domestic abuse and with a dangerous weapon and one count of felony bail jumping. With all of the charges combined, he faces more than 40 years in prison and more than $60,00 in fines.

According to a criminal complaint, Lawson’s girlfriend reported to Janesville police that on the night of Jan. 25, during a verbal argument, Lawson charged at her with a kitchen knife and later held the knife over her while forbidding her to call 911. Lawson allegedly told her that if he called the police he would kill both her and himself. The woman was eventually able to text a family member, with whom she left the home.
