MILTON — The School District of Milton is set on Monday to approve a $50 million budget for 2025-26.
If approved as is, taxpayers will see the tax rate go down to $6.48, which will amount to a $1,944 tax bill on a $300,000 home. That tax rate is a more than 6% drop from last year’s rate of $6.90.
“Working through ongoing state funding challenges, the board remains committed to providing high-quality educational programs for students while maintaining strong fiscal responsibility to taxpayers,” the release states.
A release Friday said district officials were “pleased” that the total tax levy will remain flat for 2025-26, as it would go down by 0.05% to about $21.75 million if the budget were to be approved as is. It was at about $21.76 in 2024-25, down from about $22.66 million in 2023-24.
“We’re proud to present a balanced budget that protects educational quality and programs while holding the line on taxes,” Director of Business Services Ross MacPherson said. “Our goal is always to be good stewards of public resources, and this year’s flat levy and declining mill rate reflect that commitment.”
Monday’s meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at the district office, 448 E. High St.
