JANESVILLE — Janesville resident and Rock County native Madeline Heise has announced she’ll run for a Rock County Board seat in April, representing District 24 on Janesville’s northeast side.
The District 24 seat is currently held by Kevin Stone, who was elected in 2024. District 24 aligns with city of Janesville voting wards 21, 30, and 31.
In a release, Heise said she grew up in Rock County and has lived in Janesville for over 10 years, where she has been raising her three children and working for the School District of Janesville.
Heise’s candidacy “is grounded in more than a decade of volunteer, nonprofit, and community- focused work,” and her qualifications “reflect sustained engagement in local education and community advocacy,” the release said.
She has spent 10 years in PTA leadership, including serving as president of the district-wide PTA, the Jefferson Elementary PTA, and the Marshall Middle School PTA, “where she worked collaboratively to strengthen schools and support student success,” the release continued.
She is also the founder of Little Free Pantry Rock County, a nonprofit organization addressing food insecurity by providing accessible, community-based food resources throughout the county. In addition, Heise is actively involved with Strong Towns Janesville, “where she advocates for safer streets for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as policies that promote affordable housing and long-term community stability,” the release said.
“Through my work and volunteer service, I have seen both the challenges families face and the strength of our community,” Heise said. “I want county services to be easier to navigate and better aligned with what families truly need.”
