Dahman was hired in 2019 as the interim superintendent after the resignation of Tim Schigur and was later permanently named to the job.

He had been the superintendent of Winona Area Public Schools in Winona, Minn. before that, since 2017. He held the same position in Medford, Minn. from 2013-2017.

Under Dahman’s leadership, the district saw two operational referendums approved — one for $12.5 million spread over five years approved in 2020 and a $5 million recurring referendum approved by voters in 2024. An $9.5 million referendum failed in April 2023.
