Marc Augsburger, the hospitals president and CEO, credited staff education as helping to create a reat working environment.
The achievement was earned by demonstrating exceptional performance across multiple areas, including inpatient and outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and finance, according to the National Rural Health Association, that gave out the award.
State and local government officials, including Lt. Governor Sara Rodriguez, State Sen. Mark Spreitzer, and State Rep. Brienne Brown were present at the event.
Augsburger thanked the hospital staff and community for the achievement.
Last week we celebrated hospital week, Augsburger said. Which turned out very nicely and what a way to start this week off with celebrating being top 20 in the Nation.
Brown said it was no surprise to her that the hospital won this award, saying, whenever I come in here I have come across amazing volunteers, amazing staff who are constantly working to make things better, and theres so much outreach in the community.
Brown said her own mother is a nurse practitioner and worked in similar rural communities, and thanked the staff and congratulated them on a great job.
Rodriguez echoed similar sentiments, explaining her own background as a nurse, and how medical professionals hold our patients and our community in this sacred space and we are there to advocate for them.
Continuing she said, when you have this type of award for patient satisfaction, you are doing something right. Others around the country and around the state should be looking to Edgerton Hospital to see what can we do better?
Edgerton Mayor Christopher Lund also shared a few words, thanking the hospital and staff, saying he knows they are deserving of the award.
Lund then read a proclamation from the city recognizing the hospitals achievement.
