MILTON — The Milton School Board received a report on the state budget Monday, that was finalized July 3 in Madison.
When he last reported to the board, Ross MacPherson, the School District of Milton’s director of business services, was unsure exactly what the state budget was going to look like.
“It reflected a lot of what we had been hearing, and was a compromise between the governor’s office and the legislature,” MacPherson said.
The district is looking toward a $325 per pupil increase in the revenue limit, which was what was anticipated in 2025-26 and in 2026-27, but with no increase in the low revenue ceiling. General aid is relatively flat for 2025-26. Per-pupil aid will still be at $742, the same it has been since the 2019-20 school year.
Per-pupil amounts in open enrollment will increase to $1,140 in 2025-26 and $928 in 2026-27. MacPherson called it a “very high increase” and said it will change the dynamic in how open enrollment dollars are calculated.
“While it will increase our allocation in the short term, keep in mind that this trend could change in time and does not indicate a windfall or a source of new revenue or a sustainable commitment,” MacPherson said.
Special education reimbursement is expected to go up to 42% in 2025-26 and 45% in 2026-27.
