TOWN OF NEWARKThe Rock County Sheriff's Office says a Whitewater man is dead after his car veered off the road and rolled in a ditch Monday night in the Town of Newark.
The sheriff's office has not publicly identified the 33-year-old Whitewater man pending the Rock County Medical Examiner's Office releasing his name.
The sheriff's office said in a alert that the sheriff's office, the medical examinerand and Town of Beloit medics responded to a report of a Honda Civic that had rolled over in the north ditch at West St. Lawrence Avenue Just west of South Burchfield Road about six miles west of Beloit.
Authorities got reports of the crash about 9:01 p.m. Monday.
The sheriff's office says an investigation shows the man's car was eastbound on St. Lawrence Avenue when it lost control and rolled over in the north ditch, coming to rest there.
The sheriff's office said medics attempted lifesaving measures on the spot, then transported the man to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
An investigation continues, but the sheriff's office suspects no criminal activity.
