Dear Rep. Steil, a hypothetical question. For the purpose of saving democracy, which would you rather do – go back in time and be an infantry man standing on a landing craft about to invade Normandy Beach, or vote “yes” to impeaching Donald Trump?
We all heard Lisa Murkowski admit to fear of retribution at the thought of opposing Donald Trump, but fear in the hearts of members of Congress, can’t possibly match the fear in the hearts of thousands of soldiers who fought and died for this country. They woke facing death every day.
America sent teenagers to fight and die in Vietnam. Can we seriously not find a handful of Republicans in the House and 20 in the Senate to stop Donald Trump?
Democracy is tumbling down around us. He is not an invading army, but he’s killing people none-the-less. From the AIDS patients world-wide who no longer get life-sustaining drugs, to the future victims of cancer, Alzheimer’s and other diseases who won’t benefit from therapies and drugs invented over the next four 4 years because they’ve stopped research in its tracks.
It's time for Republicans to join with Democrats to end the sham presidency of this lunatic and his thugs. Impeach in the House, convict in the Senate, and send him off to the annals of history where he’ll be remembered as the most reprehensible person to ever fool this country into electing him president.
