This is not law and not order
Democratic Sen. Alex Padilla went back to his state of California to investigate the illegal use of not only National Guard but regular U.S. Marines against unarmed demonstrators. Sen. Padilla found, by accident, that Trump loyalist Kristi Noem, now Secretary of the Interior, was speaking nearby and he went in to ask a question.
When a U.S. Senator asks a Cabinet member a question, they are supposed to listen attentively and answer respectfully. Instead, Secret Service and FBI agents dragged the senator to the ground and handcuffed him, after he had clearly said "I am Senator Alex Padilla." while Noem talked on.
The mayor of Newark New Jersey was inspecting a private ICE prison for suspected code violations (overcrowding, etc.). He had every right to be there. He was accompanied by U.S. Rep. LaMonica McIver.
This short, unarmed woman was arrested by several big men for "interfering." The Justice Department, formerly strictly non-political but now filled with people who are loyal to Trump but otherwise minimally qualified, filed charges against her.
This is not only absurd, it is a federal crime under 18 U.S. Code § 351 (e) to attack a U.S. senator or representative. The congressmen were acting fully in their line of duty. It was the officers who were acting illegally.
As I write, 60 veterans who sat on the Capitol steps to protest the military parade were arrested. There was no reason to restrict them from being there.
Trump had pardoned 1,500 people who charged up those same steps, smashed doors, and attacked policemen in a violent coup attempt. And the comptroller of New York was just roughed up by ICE. This isn’t law and it isn’t order.
Who told these ICE, FBI, SS, etc. agents that they were free to act like goons? Who told them that they could rough up and arrest government officials with impunity? Who told his cabinet members they could ignore senators? Only Donald Trump personally can be behind this. Like Putin, Maduro, and every other dictator, he encourages the arrest and harassment of opposition politicians.
They don’t have to come for you before they will have made America a place you don’t want your children to live. Wake up.
