My daughter has dedicated four years of her life to being a part of the Ferradermis FIRST Robotics Team #6574. This team is not just a club; it is an incredible platform for young minds to explore and develop their skills in various fields, ranging from engineering to marketing.
However, to truly thrive, they need access to a full-field practice area. Right now, they only have half a field to practice on, which is akin to a basketball team training on half a court and then competing on a full court. This discrepancy creates a significant disadvantage for our team, preventing them from fully preparing for competitions against teams that practice in a complete environment.
Beyond robotics, we must recognize the critical need for updated security measures in all schools. The safety of our students should always be our top priority. Moreover, I believe our educational system should expand to provide greater opportunities for students to engage in technology and hands-on learning experiences. This includes vital classes in areas like shop, agriculture, and mechanics, which not only build valuable skills but also prepare students for real-life challenges. To achieve this, the high school facilities require renovations.
Additionally, we must ensure that our middle school students can be safely dropped off and picked up. This is a crucial aspect of our community’s safety that cannot be overlooked. Another point of concern is the cafeteria, which needs a redesign to enhance its layout and efficiency. A better layout will allow for quicker service, enabling all students to enjoy their lunch within the designated time frame and reducing overcrowding.
Lastly, our tennis courts, which serve both our students and community members, require attention. Their conditions raise safety concerns, and replacing them will ensure a safe environment for sports and recreational activities.
I urge everyone to vote 'Yes' for Whitewater. This is not just a vote; it is a vote for the future of our education system and the well-being of our students and community. Let’s invest in a brighter future for our children. Whitewater 'Yes' for Education.
