JANESVILLE – The Rock County Board voted Thursday night in support of the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program, two weeks after delaying a vote for it.
Rock County Restorations substance abuse and recovery center is launching a fundraising campaign to open a new long-term residential recovery facility for women in the area. The nonprofit will host "Strike Out Addiction" on March 22 at Rivers Edge Bowl in Janesville, aiming to raise $20,000 toward a $200,000 goal. The proposed facility would provide one-year residential programming to help women overcome addiction and achieve self-reliance.
JANESVILLE – The Rock County Board this week voted to amend its 2025 budget to use about $1.3 million in opioid settlement funds this year. It also approved a plan through 2027 to use $1.7 million in settlement funds in eight priority areas.
The Rock County Board has postponed voting on support for the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program until March 13. Governor Evers proposed a $1 billion, 10-year renewal in his 2025-27 budget for the conservation program established in 1989. While the county has benefited from previous funding for trails and parks, supervisors expressed mixed opinions about endorsing the state-level spending.
