Residents in north central Nepal have evacuated after flash flooding on the Budhi Gandaki river. Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority issued a warning Sunday and evacuated villagers. The agency has warned others to move to safer areas. There have been no immediate reports of casualties. Videos posted on social media show houses and sheds near the river being swept away. The disaster management agency is trying to determine the cause of the flash flood. Nepal is still recovering from devastating flooding in August that killed over 1,400 people. The government estimates rebuilding and recovery in the affected areas will cost $4.77 billion.

No cherry trees will be removed as part of the project, the agency said. The tree removals come as President Donald Trump has moved  to turn the course into a world-class golf venue, part of his grand vision to remake Washington, D.C.

But skeptics note that what companies have described as their AI agents going rogue has involved bots working toward goals set by humans.
An Anthropic artificial intelligence model submitted a false tip to Philadelphia police about an unsolved homicide case, authorities and Anthropic said. It’s the latest example of AI models acting on their own and manipulating government and other websites. In a report Friday, Anthropic also disclosed separate incident when its AI model submitted forms to an undisclosed government website instead of stopping before submission. The incident in Philadelphia occurred on July 18 when the AI model Claude Haiku 4.5 was tasked with generating and performing example tasks on randomly selected webpages, Anthropic said.
