India captain Shubman Gill has won the toss and elected to bat first in the second cricket test against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club. India is leading the two-match test series having defeated Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the first match in Galle. Sri Lanka has called up Pasindu Sooriyabandara for the injured Dinesh Chandimal. Opener Kamil Mishara makes his test debut in place of Nishan Madushka. India has left out spinner Kuldeep Yadav, replacing him with allrounder Saransh Jain.

Australia's Mitchell Starc continues to dominate Bangladesh in the second cricket test. After taking six wickets in the first innings, Starc struck again Sunday, reducing Bangladesh to 39-3 by lunch on Day 2. The match is taking place in Mackay, Queensland. Starc's impressive performance included two wickets in consecutive balls. Bangladesh trails by 107 runs, with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto unbeaten on 23. Earlier, Australia resumed at 165-8, with Cameron Green top-scoring with 67. Shoriful Islam's 7-48 was the best bowling for Bangladesh away from home. Australia aims to level the series after losing the first test.

Australia won the toss and sent Bangladesh in to bat in the second cricket test that the home side needs to win to level the two-test series. “The wicket looks pretty good but if there is any moisture in it it might be this morning,†Australia captain Pat Cummins said Saturday. Australia dropped Jake Weatherald and recalled Matt Renshaw, who will open the batting, after a surprising loss to Bangladesh in the first test last weekend in Darwin. Bangladesh also made one change — Shoriful Islam comes in for Ebadot Hossain.

England’s all-seam attack has captain Joe Root stoked about what more they can achieve after swatting aside Pakistan in the first test in Leeds. England won by an innings and 103 runs inside three days. Pakistan was bowled out for 171 and 135 against England’s 409. Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue took eight wickets each, Jofra Archer grabbed three on Friday, and Gus Atkinson one. Batting allrounder Dan Lawrence bowled one over of off-spin, a maiden, to break up the barrage of seam on a fair pitch. Root says “They don’t know how good they are yet and what they’re capable of.â€

England will take a commanding lead of 238 runs into the second innings of the first test against Pakistan after being bowled out for 409 around 40 minutes into Day 3 at Headingley. Resuming on 366-8, England saw its tail add a further 43 runs. Jofra Archer hit 23 of them after two fours and a six and left the field not out. Khurram Shahzad claimed the final two wickets. Wicketkeeper Jamie Smith miscued a pull to midwicket for 25 and No. 11 Josh Tongue was clean-bowled for 8. Khurram was expensive with figures of 3-133. Pakistan was dismissed for 171 after barely two sessions of Day 1.
