The free event, held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, will take place at the Daniel Williams Resource Center (DWRC), 1717 Center Ave., in Janesville. While there is no cost to attend, visitors are encouraged, if possible, to bring a non-perishable food item for ECHO, to benefit Rock County people in need.
Cori Marsh, aging unit supervisor with the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Rock County, said there are a number of reasons why seniors should put this upcoming event on their calendars.
Come, learn things, find out about the different resources that are available in Rock County and leave with a lot of information, Marsh said.
The ADRC of Rock County is one of multiple local and state agencies and other organizations participating in the 2025 Rock County Senior Fair.
Participating exhibitors include local hospitals, clinics, assisted living facilities and nursing homes, insurance companies, mobility experts, representatives from area senior centers, libraries and hearing centers.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to partake in multiple practical, informative offerings, such as details on the latest types of scams targeting seniors, flu shots and health screenings and an opportunity to bring in unneeded prescription medications for safe disposal.
A free shredding service also will be provided throughout the fair. Additionally, visitors with any unwanted, used eyeglasses are encouraged to bring them in; they will be forwarded on to the local Lions Club.
The Rock County Senior Fair has been a staple in the community for nearly a quarter century and, over time, has grown with an ever-expanding number of vendors.
One thing people do not have to bring to the event is any form of payment.
People arent coming to sell their wares, Marsh said of the various exhibitors. Theyre just going to be there to talk about their products.
The fair also has a fun element to it, with Memories Across the Decades being the theme this year. All vendors will showcase some of the distinctive features from prior decades.
There will be vendors dressed up in 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s clothes, and theyll do their booths with that theme as well, Marsh said.
Attendees can get in on the festivities as well by voting for their favorite booth. The submission will double as an entry to win one of multiple door prizes.
The Rock County Senior Fair might come but once a year, but Marsh said planning it requires the collaboration from a cross-section of people that takes a considerable amount of time.
We have a planning committee, and they work really hard, Marsh said. We have people from all different places that sit on our committee that help put it together every year. Its a lot of work to put something like this together.
