SUN PRAIRIE — Sun Prairie United established a four-goal lead in the opening period and never looked back, 6-4, in a win over Janesville in Big Eight Conference boys’ hockey Thursday night at Sun Prairie Ice Arena.
“They had a ton of speed and talent in their top two lines and unfortunately for us, we just came out too flat,” Janesville coach Nick English said.
The Bluebirds got on the board in the second period when AJ Walker scored. Iverson Seidel and Carter Steuck also scored in the second. Kaleb Erickson saved 44 shots.

“I’m proud of how we battled back in the second, outscoring them 3-1 to give ourselves a chance in the third period. We came up short tonight, but I’m pleased with our effort in the second and third” English said.
Janesville (2-3, 2-2) hosts Baraboo/Portage on Saturday at 3 p.m.
MCFARLAND DOWNS MILTON
In Janesville, Milton (2-3, 1-3) lost 5-0 to McFarland in a Badger Conference contest at Mercyhealth Arena. McFarland scored twice in the first period and rattled off another three in the final period.
“Not the result we’re hoping for on the scoreboard, but I thought tonight showed a lot of how we’ve been progressing as a team in a good way,” Milton coach Devin Servin said. “I think this was good showing. We battled really hard.”
In net was Porter Maliszewski, who saved 39 shots.
