JANESVILLE — Janesville’s boys’ hockey team picked up another Big Eight Conference win with a 7-1 dismantling of Beloit Memorial Tuesday night at Mercyhealth Arena.
Cooper Seefeld scored three goals, Carter Steuck and Owen Schattschneider provided two. In net for the Bluebirds was Kaleb Erickson, who made 30 saves.
“We knew this was a big week ahead of us going into winter break with three games. It’s nice to come out on top to start the week. We competed hard all three periods and played a complete game,” Janesville coach Nick English said.
The Bluebirds (5-3 overall) travel to Verona Friday.

MILTON DEFEATS SOUTH CENTRAL
In DeForest, Mason Anundson scored a pair of third-period goals to help lead Milton’s hockey team to a 5-4 triumph over South Central Tuesday Night at DeForest Yards Ice Arena in a Badger Conference contest.
“I thought it was a real character win for us tonight. It showed what this group is made of. In the first period we didn’t play at the pace or in the style we wanted, and the other team took advantage of that,” Milton coach Devin Servin said.
Austin Schumacher came up big for the Red Hawks. After a scoreless first period, the senior forward netted two goals in the second period. In net for Milton was Porter Maliszewski, who saved 40 shots. The Red Hawks are now 3-3 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
“What I’m proud of though was our response. The team decided to respond and went to work, battled hard, and showed a lot of resilience... If we can put together three full periods like that, I really like our chances against anyone,” Servin said.
Next up, Milton hosts Monona Grove on Thursday 7 p.m. at Mercyhealth Arena.
