Dick Lambrecht smiles as he is recognized for his 60 years of working as a swim official in the area during the Rock County Championships at Milton High School on Jan. 11. The meet was supposed to be his last, but he will work one more at Milton High School on Thursday that was rescheduled earlier this month. Lambrecht also officiated cross country in the fall and track and field in the spring.

If you or anyone you know competed in high school swim, cross country, or track and field in southcentral Wisconsin anytime in the last 60 years or so, chances are Janesville resident Dick Lambrecht helped keep those meets running smoothly.

After six decades of traveling to various parks, pools and tracks in Rock County and beyond, Lambrecht will officiate his last WIAA meet, a boys swim dual between Milton and Fort Atkinson, on Thursday night at Milton High School. The meet is a postponement from Jan. 9; originally, his final scheduled meet was to be the Rock County Championships boys swim event held at Milton High on Jan. 11.
