DODGEVILLE — After falling in Game 1 of a doubleheader against Dodgeville 8-6 Saturday morning at Wilson Park, Janesville Parker got a bounce-back 9-7 victory.
"We played two great games again this morning," Parker coach Jenny Ruesch said. "Our bats were working, pitching was great, and defense was great as well."
In the 9-7 win, the Vikings poured on seven runs in the top of the third. Maycee Martin doubled and went on to score off an error. Brooklyn Mattingly produced an RBI single, Madyn Erickson, along with Elin Martin, had a two-RBI double. The Vikings also drew four walks in the inning.
Erickson got the start in the circle for Parker. In three innings, she surrendered one run on five hits. Maycee Martin pitched the final four innings, allowing four runs on six hits while recording three strikeouts and no walks.
"Both games were a team effort to keep us close and in the game. In Game 2, we were explosive with two outs in the third inning," Ruesch said.
The Vikings (4-20, 2-13) take on host Madison West next Thursday, May 21, at 5 p.m.
