JANESVILLE -- Janesville firefighters responded early Sunday morning to a trash and rubbish fire at the city landfill in the 500 block of Black Bridge Road. 

Fire crews that responded shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday found an acre of the landfill was "heavily involved," with fire. It took 24 firefighters and 160,000 gallons of water to bring the blaze under control.
