JANESVILLE — A 28-year-old Janesville man was arrested Wednesday at Kwik Trip, 2810 East Milwaukee St., on drug and firearm charges.
Taiwan R. Edwards was arrested around 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Kwik Trip after being stopped by a Wisconsin State Patrol K9 Unit. The drug investigation was conducted by the Janesville Police Department Street Crimes Unit and the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation.
According to a police department release, three search warrants were served on the day of the arrest by SCU and DCI, with assistance by the Drug Enforcement Administration task force officers, WSP K9 unit, and the Beloit Police Department Violent Crime Intervention Team. According to the release, law enforcement authorities seized 57.9 ounces of cocaine, 4.5 pounds of marijuana, 2 assault rifles, 4 handguns, and $75,000 cash.
Edwards is being held at the Rock County Jail on a probation hold as he is currently on probation for prior drug offenses.
