JANESVILLE — A Rock County jury has found a Beloit man guilty of sexually assaulting two young girls in separate incidents in 2024.
According to a release, a jury on Friday convicted 26-year-old Isaiah Washington of Beloit of both first-degree and second-degree sexual assault of a child, after a three-day trial.
According to the Rock County District Attorney’s Office, the first assault occurred in April 2024, when Washington molested and later sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl in Janesville.
The child reported the assault and completed a forensic interview at the YWCA Care House, after which Washington was arrested.
Later that year, while Washington was being held in the Rock County Jail, an 11-year-old child reported that he had assaulted her at a home in Beloit. She also participated in a forensic interview at the YWCA Care House.
During the trial, both victims testified. Washington took the stand in his own defense.
Assistant District Attorney Alex Goulart noted that the two victims did not know each other and could not have collaborated.
“They only have three things in common,” Goulart told the jury. “They’re soft-spoken children, the defendant sexually assaulted them, and they were brave enough to speak out.”
Washington remains in the Rock County Jail and is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 20 by Judge Karl Hanson. He faces up to 65 years in prison and 35 years of extended supervision.
