WHITEWATER — The relationship between Whitewater and Bird, the company behind scooters used throughout the city, is apparently coming to an end.

Bird scooters sit in downtown Janesville in September 2022. Bird pulled its scooters out of Janesvillle in February 2024, citing ongoing financial challenges. Bird has now announced it will pull its scooters from Whitewater by May 14.

Public Works Director Brad Marquardt reported to the common council Tuesday that Bird is pulling its scooters out of the city “by the end of the week.” In a memo to the council, he wrote that he received word on April 28.
