MILTON — Four people will run in April for three seats on the Milton Common Council.
Incumbents Ken Smith and Trent Kuczynski will be challenged by Michelle Reid and Brooks Gallman. Ryan Holbrook, another incumbent, isn’t running again.
Smith announced in November his intention to run for reelection to the council, and to also seek a seat on the Rock County Board in April.
Kuczynski was appointed to the council last June to fill a vacancy when Eric Stockman became mayor, based on a vote of current council members.
Reid and Gallman were also candidates for the vacancy last year, which saw three rounds of voting. Gallman had public support to fill the vacancy, specifically from community member Chuck Jackson, former Alderperson and County Supervisor Bill Wilson and School Board President Annette Smith, each of whom said all candidates then would do well but endorsed Gallman because he had run in the 2025 spring election.
Gallman had 998 votes in the 2025 election, which was just less than 23%. The leading vote-getter was Derek Henze with 1,211 votes, or about 27%. Molly Budlong was second with 1,088 votes, or about 25%. Incumbent Sharla Walker had 1,076 votes, or about 24%. There were 32 write-in votes.
