JANESVILLE — The Rock County Board will consider Thursday awarding a contract to renovate the Rock County 4-H Fairgrounds grandstand that will include replacing seats, repairing the roof and removing lead paint.

The grandstand on the Rock County 4-H Fairgrounds fills up as fairgoers wait for the start of the Charlie Berens performance in July 2022.

The grandstand seating is made of wood, which is a “concern” of the Janesville Fire Department, according to the resolution. The aisles in the grandstand lack handrails, and the seats and upright structure were originally painted with lead paint, which later had been covered with non-lead paint but will require removal.
