JANESVILLE — TDS is partnering with the Janesville YMCA and ECHO to feed families through the coming holiday weeks.
In a release Friday, it announced the launch of a holiday pop-up food pantry that will be open from Monday, Dec. 22, through Friday, Jan. 2, at the Janesville YMCA, 221 Dodge St.
Families facing food insecurity during the Janesville School District’s winter break will have access to this free resource, thanks to a $500 donation from TDS.
The Holiday Pop-up Pantry is an expansion of the YMCA and ECHO’s existing Weekend Meal Program, which provides two days’ worth of meals and snacks to families on Fridays. Through Jan. 2, families can pick up bags containing two breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks. Bags will be available Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.
“I’m excited TDS can help bridge the gap for families looking for assistance over the holidays when school isn’t in session,” Liz Menz, TDS associate manager of field marketing, said in the release.
“We’re grateful to the YMCA and ECHO for stepping up and filling this need in the community.”
The Holiday Pop-up Pantry is the latest in a series of local giveback efforts by TDS in Janesville, the release noted.
Earlier this month, the company marked its fourth annual Week of Giving by donating $500 to ECHO and $500 to Project 16:49, which supports unaccompanied homeless teens and young adults.
In addition, the TDS Open, the company’s annual charitable golf outing, has raised more than $1 million for charitable organizations over the past 14 years, including $82,500 for Project 16:49 in 2024.
Headquartered in Madison, TDS is Janesville’s only all-fiber internet service provider. The company connected its first Janesville customers to a high-speed fiber network in July 2024 and continues to expand its infrastructure throughout the community.
