JANESVILLE — The 2025 House of Mercy Homeless Center Charity Ball, held Oct. 4 at the Celtic House in Janesville, welcomed 310 guests and raised more than $307,000 to benefit the center and its residents, organizers said.

This year’s event featured a fundraising appeal to support essential maintenance projects at the House of Mercy, including the replacement of aging windows in its 1950-era building.
“The improvements will make the center safer, more energy efficient, and even more welcoming for the individuals and families served every day,” a release said.
Community raffle winners included:
$2,500 cash donated by Avondale Roofing, B. Grady, Janesville
$1,500 gift certificate to the Diamond Center, K. Carlson, Rockford
$1,000 gift certificate to the Janesville Comfort Shoppe, K. Hubbard, Madison,
$500 donated by E & D Waterworks, S. Thompson, Janesville,
“The Mercyhealth Development Foundation thanks all Charity Ball guests and donors for their support of the House of Mercy Homeless Center,” Jennifer Johns, director of the Mercyhealth Development Foundation, said in the release.
“We are deeply grateful for their compassion, commitment, and the joy they bring to this event each year. Their kindness truly changes lives.”
Located at 320 Lincoln Street in Janesville, the House of Mercy is a 25-bed homeless center that provides homeless families throughout southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois with short-term emergency shelter and access to housing, job placement and child care resources. Staff at the center help the homeless assess their needs, obtain appropriate referrals and services, and design an action plan aimed at achieving more stable housing.
