The roughly 250-acre industrial site remains one of Janesville���s largest redevelopment opportunities, and the forum comes as residents prepare to vote Nov. 3 on whether projects exceeding $450 million at the site should require voter approval.

ABC Supply names Larry Sullivan next chief information officer

Beloit-based ABC Supply announced that Tony Vaden, the company���s chief information officer, will retire Jan. 1 after 13 years.

Larry Sullivan, who is currently vice president of software, data and digital transformation, will succeed Vaden.

Sullivan joined ABC Supply in 2017 and has led initiatives involving artificial intelligence, analytics and digital strategy.

German delegation visits Blackhawk Technical College

A delegation from Hessen, Germany, visited Wisconsin this week as the state and Hessen mark 50 years of their sister-state relationship, with stops including Blackhawk Technical College, UW-Madison and Rockwell Automation.

Officials with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation said the relationship has supported trade, foreign investment, research, education and entrepreneurship ties between the two regions.

Federal farm safety-net payments reach record $13.8 billion

Officials with the U.S. Department of Agriculture���s Farm Service Agency said this week that Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage programs will generate about $13.8 billion in gross payments for the 2025 crop year, the largest annual payout since the programs were created.

Corn and soybeans are among the commodities receiving support, making the payments potentially relevant to eligible Rock County producers.

Farm debt hits record as USDA studies whether official figures undercount borrowing

U.S. farm debt has climbed above $605 billion, but Reuters reported USDA researchers believe borrowing from equipment dealers, suppliers, cooperatives and other nontraditional lenders may mean the true total is higher.

The issue comes as producers deal with high operating costs, weaker commodity prices and increasingly complicated financing arrangements.

Regional nonprofit leaders gather for first Strategic Nonprofit Summit in Janesville

Nonprofit leaders from across the region met at the Woodman���s Sports and Convention Center this week for sessions on leadership, finances, board relations, marketing, technology and strategic planning.
