JANESVILLE The visiting Middleton Cardinals proved too much for the Janesville Craig girls tennis team at the Palmer Park tennis courts on Thursday, with the Cardinals dispatching the Cougars with a 7-0 sweep.
Janesvilles top performers of the day were on Court 1 doubles, as the Craig duo of Jillian Walter and Malia Jordan dropped a tightly contested opening set 6-4 before eventually losing their second set by a score of 6-1.
Isabella Yankee, playing No. 1 singles for the Cougars, and the pair of Jolynn Elzy and Kira Stults on Court 3 doubles also put together valiant efforts for the team.
The Cougars will now travel to Sun Prairie on Saturday, September 5, for yet another Big Eight Conference matchup, this time against the Sun Prairie West Wolves.
