BELOIT - Beloit College is joining 16 Wisconsin private colleges in a course credit transfer agreement that will make it much more seamless for technical college students to transfer to the oldest continuously running college in the state.
The agreement is between the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU) and the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS).
Under the agreement, specified technical college credits will count toward requirements for a bachelor's degree at Beloit College, provided the students earned a grade of "C" or better and completed the class within the past 10 years. Technical college students must also meet Beloit's admission requirements.
"Beloit College is proud to partner with the (WAICU) in a course-to-course agreement with Wisconsin's 16 technical colleges," Beloit College President Eric Boynton said in a news release.
Blackhawk Technical College, which has its central campus located between Beloit and Janesville, is a part of the WAICU. The agreement includes more than a dozen popular introductory courses in the agreement, including chemistry, psychology and speech.
Beloit College was founded in 1846 and remains one of the city's 10 largest employers with 315 staffers. The college has an enrollment this spring of about 1,000 students.
