BELOIT - Beloit resident Rodolfo Abarca has announced he’s running in April for the District 12 seat on the Rock County Board.
District 12 in Beloit is currently represented by County Supervisor April Whitledge.
Born and raised in Beloit, Abarca currently works at Fran Fruzen Middle School as a bilingual paraeducator. He has also worked in manufacturing is on the city of Beloit’s Plan Commission and on an advisory committee that’s working to update city ordinances.
"During these tough times when the cost of living is going up and the future seems uncertain, we need to build community and help each other out. I’m running to make sure our community is safe, our tax dollars are used efficiently, and to build a community where we as neighbors look out for each other,” Abarca said in a release. “I grew up in a working-class family that did their best to juggle the challenges that life throws at people. From rent, car payments, and hospital bills, I’ve had to learn to be smart with money at a young age.”
“My entire adult life, I've spent volunteering all around the community, from the school’s annual health fair to picking up trash around the city. I’ve always been an active member of this community," Abarca continued in the release. "I have experience working with local government. Now I'm running because we need a county supervisor that we can trust with our tax dollars and that serves the community."
