In a release Monday, Schulz touted her record of “effective leadership, fiscal responsibility and strong advocacy for working families.” The release also promoted her stance on using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for tenant-landlord assistance in the county.

When federal ARPA dollars sunset, Schulz continued this work “by supporting the Human Services Department in expanding programs that keep tenants safely housed,” the release said.

Schulz also authored a resolution establishing a $15 minimum wage for all Rock County employees.

Schulz also pointed to her work in partnership with the Rock County Housing Authority to expand access to affordable housing, help low- and moderate-income families secure stable rentals and increase pathways to homeownership.

“I’m looking forward to hearing from residents and continuing the work of making Rock County a place where every family can thrive,” Schulz said in the release.

Schulz has a bachelor of arts degree in political science, and professional experience in real estate and government.

Candidates for local office could begin on Monday, Dec. 1, circulating nomination papers for the April 7 election. Already announcing their intent to run are Brandon Buchanan of Beloit, Ken Smith of Milton, Rodolfo Abarca of Beloit and Willow Wallis of Beloit.

Current county board members Yuri Rashkin, Bill Wilson and Mary Mawhinney have said they will not seek reelection.
