JANESVILLE — Beloit-area Rock County Supervisor Genia Stevens won’t run to retain her seat in April, County Clerk Lisa Tollefson announced late Tuesday.
Stevens is the current county board supervisor in District 13, which is made up of Wards 2, 3 and 4 in the southwestern portion of the city of Beloit.
Nikita Ford has announced, meanwhile, that she will run for Stevens’ District 13 seat.

Ford is also the founder and executive director of a nonprofit organization that advocates for survivors of domestic violence.
Born and raised in Beloit, Ford said she’s running for the county board because she believes it is time for more residents to have a voice in local politics.
“I want the decisions being made to reflect the needs and experiences of the people who live here,” Ford said. “I believe my voice, my experience, and my commitment to the community can help make Rock County an even better place for all of us.”
Ford’s campaign is focused on fair and decent housing, accessible and affordable health care, affordable childcare, and improved access to county resources.
