Rock County has seen a handful of business developments in recent days pointing to continued investment in manufacturing, aviation, health technology and agriculture.

They include major financing for a Beloit radiopharmaceutical company, a $25 million Janesville manufacturing expansion, a new airport hangar and federal disaster assistance for area farmers.

NorthStar gains capital financing for production expansionBeloit-based NorthStar Medical Technologies announced this week it had obtained a capital financing facility of up to $185 million to expand isotope production and clinical and commercial radiopharmaceutical manufacturing at its Beloit campus. The financing, with Hercules Capital Inc., includes $100 million available upfront and is expected to support additional isotope production capacity and clinical and commercial drug manufacturing capabilities.

GEA plans $25M expansion in JanesvilleGEA is moving ahead with a roughly 70,000-square-foot expansion of its Janesville campus that will add manufacturing, research, training, office and testing space, the company announced this week.

The $25 million project is expected to create 52 full-time-equivalent jobs and bring GEA���s investment in Janesville since 2022 to about $75 million.

Construction is expected to begin this fall, with full operations planned for early 2028. GEA plans to combine a 13.94-acre city-owned parcel with 16 acres the company already owns, creating a campus of about 30 acres.

The project comes after an agreement with Janesville city leaders earlier this year.

SC Aviation breaks ground on $3.5M hangar at Southern Wisconsin Regional AirportPrivate aviation company SC Aviation has started construction on a 30,000-square-foot hangar at Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport in Janesville, the company announced this week.

Company officials said the new facility will grow support for aircraft management, charter operations, maintenance services, future fleet expansion and growing demand for hangar space.

The new hangar is expected to be completed in March 2027.

While based in Janesville, the company lists operations in Madison, Milwaukee and the Chicago area.

Federal disaster loans available to Rock County farmsRock County farmers who suffered physical damage from severe spring storms might be eligible for low-interest disaster loans through the U.S. Department of Agriculture���s Farm Service Agency.

USDA officials said that Rock County is among the primary Wisconsin counties eligible for assistance tied to storms that occurred from April 9 through May 17.

The loans can be used to repair or replace property essential to a farm operation, including buildings, equipment, livestock, perennial crops and harvested or stored crops and hay, according to the Farm Service Agency.

Applications for losses connected to the spring storms are due May 3, 2027.
